The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese zodiac system. In the mythical race, the horse was an excellent runner but not as strong of a swimmer. The snake, which was stowed away on the horse’s hoof, crossed the river ahead of it, finishing in sixth place and the horse finished in seventh place.
