Halloween Game of the Goose

Happy Halloween! Around this time last month, I started brainstorming a Halloween-inspired art piece. One of my favorite retro gameboard designs is Game of the Goose and I came across one specific design that really caught my eye. Once I got it penciled onto the canvas, it was color palette selection, figuring out color placement, and onto painting as usual.

The design reminds me of stadium seating, everyone watching what is going to happen in the center space. Is it a game? Is it showcase?

Oh! As you can see, this piece features glow in the dark paint! Yes! I first used it in my Acey-Deucey Battleship piece last year, but I’ve gotten better at how to apply it. It’s called Phosphorescent Green, made by Golden Artist Acrylics.

Per usual, I made a music playlist to accompany the artwork. For the 63 spaces in the Game of the Goose game, 63 essential Halloween tracks. It’s a mix of genres but (obviously) leans heavy on alternative, goth, punk, funk, hip-hop, and new wave.
